Today, at the RCS MediaGroup headquarters in Milan, the handover ceremony was held for the Toyota vehicles, which will be alongside the Carovana Rosa for the seventh consecutive year.
Toyota, as Official Mobility Partner and Official Car of the Giro d’Italia and Giro-E Enel, delivered an electrified fleet of over 60 vehicles equipped with all technologies: from Full Hybrid to Plug-in Hybrid including Full Electric with bZ4X and Fuel Cell with Mirai sedan. This reflects Toyota’s multi-technological approach, which aims to offer its customers worldwide a broad spectrum of solutions to effectively and rapidly reduce CO₂ emissions.
The ceremony took place in the presence of RCS MediaGroup President Urbano Cairo and Toyota Motor Italia CEO Alberto Santilli.
Toyota will be present at the Giro-E Enel with a fleet of 20 electrified vehicles – 5 Toyota bZ4X, 5 Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid and 10 Toyota RAV4 Full Hybrid – providing tangible support for sustainable mobility in the e-bike experience that runs alongside the Giro d’Italia.
Main star of Giro-E Enel will be Toyota bZ4X full electric, accompanying cyclists throughout the stages. The Toyota bZ4X is the first model in Toyota’s range of electric vehicles built on a dedicated platform (e-TNGA) and introduces true off-road capabilities to the electric vehicles market for the first time.
The star of the 108th edition of the Giro d’Italia will be Plug-in Hybrid technology, the state of the art of Toyota’s multi-technological approach, fully represented by the Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid that combines sustainability, safety, performance and driving pleasure.
Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid takes electrification to the next level with its range of up to 100km in all-electric mode in the urban environment. Toyota’s Plug-in Hybrid technology offers a smooth transition between Electric and Full Hybrid mode, maximising efficiency even when the battery runs low, without the need for constant reliance on charging infrastructure.
During the time trial stages, the race will also feature the second generation of the Mirai, Toyota’s zero-emission electric flagship powered by hydrogen fuel cells technology.
The Giro d’Italia 2025 fleet will also include the Toyota RAV4, available in both Full Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid versions, delivering a perfect balance of high performance, outstanding energy efficiency, and extremely low climate-altering and pollutant emissions.
In previous editions, Toyota’s electrified hybrid fleet has achieved the highest level along the event’s roads, operating in zero-emission mode for more than 50% of the time, testifying to the contribution that Toyota’s electrified hybrid technologies can make to environmental protection and sustainable mobility, even as the world transitions toward a broader adoption of zero-emission vehicles.
